Jim Bouderau, SPCA of Tompkins County Executive Director, has announced that the shelter’s most important annual fundraising event, the March for the Animals, will be held in person (and virtually) on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the large pavilion at Stewart Park. We are celebrating our beloved pets by Marching for the Animals with family and friends to benefit the SPCA of Tompkins County.

To participate and help the SPCA, adults and children may register for the March by going to www.spcaonline.com and following the March link. The SPCA asks that adults raise a minimum of $100 each and that children attempt to raise $50 each.

Like other local “friend-raising” events, the fundraising for the $75,000 goal has already begun and will continue in the weeks leading up to the event on October 9.

Bouderau says “our intake at the SPCA has returned to pre-pandemic levels and we are full up!  Our shelter, founded 120 years ago in 1902, is the first open admission, No Kill shelter in the country.  This effort saving thousands of animals would not be possible without a tremendous amount of support from our community. It is truly our supporters and animal lovers that make our work possible.”

Local businesses have long supported this critical fundraising event by serving as sponsors. “Our sponsors are integral to success of the event,” Bouderau goes on to say. “With $75,000 to raise for the veterinary care of nearly two thousand shelter animals each year, we rely on the generosity of our sponsors, our event fundraisers, all of their supporters, and everyone who volunteers and participates.”
