ITHACA, N.Y.—One person has been arrested after police responded to a structure fire at approximately 9:14 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the 200 block of South Cayuga Street.

During their investigation, officers from the Ithaca Police Department identified 36-year-old Aaron J. Blume of Enfield and arrested him.

Blume is alleged to have entered a building before intentionally starting the fire while the building was occupied. There are no reported injuries. It is unclear what building the fire took place in—the Tompkins County Public Library, Sunoco, Hotel Ithaca and Cayuga Street Parking Garage are the only buildings on that block, as well as businesses in the ground floor of the parking garage.

Blume was charged with arson in the second degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Blume was arraigned in the Ithaca City Court and remanded to the Tompkins County jail on $10,000 bail.
