ITHACA, N.Y.—An Ithaca resident has been sentenced to 15 years for receiving and possessing child pornography, announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and federal officials.
54-year-old Leroy Reed was sentenced after pleading guilty to two charges related to child pornography. According to the plea in the announcement, Reed admitted to using a computer “to download child pornography over the internet using peer-to-peer file-sharing software.” Police said Reed possessed 55 pictures and 94 videos of child pornography in his apartment, as well as a previous conviction in 2022 of first-degree rape of a 15-year-old. Reed is already a registered sex offender.
Reed was also sentenced to 20 years of supervised release, starting after Reed is released, and he must pay $6,000 in restitution.
The case was announced by U.S. Attorney Carla Freedman, FBI agent Janeen DiGuiseppi and New York State Police Acting Superintendent Steven Nigrelli.
