ITHACA, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of one person after threats were made against fellow students on an Ithaca City School District school bus last week.
The suspect, a juvenile, was not named in the arrest announcement. The threat was allegedly made on Oct. 28, when the student said they were “going to shoot up the bus” on Monday, Oct. 31. It was reported on Oct. 29, and after some investigation the police were able to determine the suspect’s full name and address.
During an interview, police said the suspect admitted to making the threat, but that no weapons were found in the student’s home.
The student was charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony, and was released to their guardian with a court date. An Emergency Risk Protection Order was sought and submitted to the Tompkins County Superior Court.
