Battle of the (Farm) Bands, Sunday October 9th at 5pm, Hosted by FRIENDS Of the Ithaca Farmers Market

(Ithaca, N.Y., October 3, 2022) – The Friends of the Ithaca Farmers Market (IFM) is announcing its first fundraising event, The Battle of the (Farm) Bands. Farmers Market affiliated bands will compete Sunday, October 9 starting at 5 p.m. at IFM’s Steamboat Landing pavilion, 545 3rd Street. The event will highlight IFM food and drink vendors as well as a raffle and silent auction featuring products straight from local farmers and artists. Families are encouraged to attend together and check out the kid-friendly activities, with details to follow on Facebook and Instagram. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10/person or $20/family. AND, guests will receive one free raffle ticket for every $5 donated.

The bands, battling for bragging rights and a special performance at Hopshire Brewing, are listed below with their farm affiliation. Vote for a band during their performance by placing a tip in their tip jar!

  • djMateo (40 Weight, IFM Vendor)

President of the Friends of the Ithaca Farmers Market Monika Roth stated, “This is a great way to celebrate harvest season and to feature our many-talented local farmers and artists. The Ithaca Farmers Market is a treasure, and our organization exists to support the market and offer programming and education around food equity, access and affordability, and entrepreneurship.” Roth added, “I hope you’ll join us to celebrate the farm bands and see who comes out on top!”

Event Organizer, Co-Owner of Main Street Farms, and member of The Local Farmers Union band Bob Cat Bonagura said, “The event is in support of the future of our farmers market. The Friends are fundraising so we can build a better parking lot, sustain the market at Steamboat Landing, and offer programming supporting current and future vendors – and the community. This is bound to be a laid back and fun event with great music, food, and drinks, all for a great cause.”
