UPDATE (09/27/2022): The Ithaca Police Department has released that they have apprehended a suspect in a string of burglaries in the area of the 100 block of North Cayuga Street.

Nicholas Denmark was arrested and charged with Burglary in the 3rd degree, with further charges pending. The Ithaca Police Department stated that investigations into the burglaries Denmark has been attatched to are still ongoing.

ITHACA, N.Y. — A string of burglaries were committed along the 100 block of North Cayuga Street by a man who, at one point, posed as a NYSEG worker to gain access to apartment buildings in the area.

The Ithaca Police Department released that around 10:34 AM, a burglar forced entry into an unoccupied building and stole numerous, but unspecified items. The perpetrator then, according to police, broke into and stole items from a vehicle in the same area, before beginning to identify themselves as a NYSEG worker to apartment residents along the block to gain access to their buildings. Police did not state whether anything was stolen from the apartments that the burglar gained access to. 

The suspect is described as slim, around 5’8″ tall, having facial hair, a tattoo on their left hand, and wearing a red shirt and a hard hat. The police provided the following image of their suspect.
