TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Health Department has reported another death from COVID-19, the 66th reported in the county since the pandemic began in March 2020.

It’s the first reported death in the county from COVID-19 since July 29.

“Sadly TCHD was notified of the death of a TC resident. Our condolences go out to the family of this individual,” read a tweet from the health department.

The death comes amid a fairly stable COVID-19 environment locally, though there is usually an uptick associated with college students re-entering the area. There are now two people hospitalized locally with COVID; that number has bounced between 2 and 8 since the middle of July. There were 53 new positive cases reported over the weekend, according to the health department.
