(Update—August 25): One person was arrested in the stabbing of a delivery driver that took place last week.

Police announced the arrest of Zahmear Lawson, 22 years old of Ithaca, in connection with the incident. He is alleged to have been the attacker in the incident, and has been charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was remanded to Tompkins County Jail.

ITHACA, N.Y.—Ithaca Police Department officers responded to the 400 block of North Meadow Street for a reported stabbing at approximately 6:18 p.m. on Aug. 17, 2022.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that a delivery person had been stabbed in the left shoulder and sustained a non–life-threatening injury.

The suspect is unknown to the victim and is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s with no facial hair, a thin build who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect had fled the scene toward Fulton Street prior to police arriving.
