ITHACA, N.Y.—At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 19, Ithaca Police Department officers responded to Dankie’s Glass Shop on Elmira Road for a report of shots fired.

On the scene, officers interviewed victims and witnesses and found that two black males had attempted to rob the store, where they were met with resistance from the owner.

After a brief struggle the suspects fled the area, and officers canvassing the area located the suspects’ vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, where they found 32-year-old Domonique Stewart of Newfield to be driving the vehicle. Stewart was taken into custody, and the second suspect’s identification is being investigated.

Stewart was charged with attempted robbery in the first degree and arraigned in front of Judge Seth Peacock before being remanded to the Tompkins County Jail with $100,000 cash/$100,000 bond.

At approximately 9:25 p.m. on Aug. 19, IPD officers responded to the Boat Yard Grill on Taughannock Blvd. for a report of two males and a female creating a disorderly situation.

On the scene, officers learned that the three individuals were leaving the restaurant when an employee tried to take the license plate of the vehicle they were leaving in.

One of the subjects fired a gun at the employee, but the bullet did not hit them.

The investigation into the matter found that 45-year-old Troy Washington of Ithaca had fired the gun. Officers then found a loaded .25 caliber handgun in the vehicle.

Washington was charged with attempted assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment. He was arraigned in front of Peacock and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
