TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—Josh Riley has received endorsements from Tompkins County Democratic leaders Martha Robertson and Irene Stein.

Robertson formerly chaired the Tompkins County Legislature and was a Democratic nominee in New York’s 23rd District, and Stein formerly chaired both the Tompkins County Democratic Committee (TDC) and Democratic Rural Conference.

“I’m so happy to endorse Josh,” Robertson said. “He’s a strong candidate with real roots in what’s now District 19. He’s got a lot of background in different areas of policy and government, and I think he’ll represent us really well in Washington [D.C.].”

Robertson also said that she believes Riley will work to bring sustainable jobs and revitalize the economy in upstate New York. “He’s definitely shown us that he’s got a real depth of experience that will take us a long way. I’m interested in somebody who can move the levers of power sooner rather than later.”

Stein said she is delighted to endorse Riley’s campaign and that she believes he is an excellent candidate for Congress. “I had the privilege of recently hearing him at a conference, and I think his values are very consistent with the values of upstate residents — he’s concerned about the upstate economy, everyone’s rights being respected and the climate change situation we find ourselves in.”

Riley said that he is honored to have the support of both Robertson and Stein.

“They are leaders, public servants, and role models, having dedicated their lives to equality, justice and equal opportunity for all,” he said. “At a time when our country faces so many challenges, I’m grateful that Irene and Martha are fighting alongside me to overcome them.”
