ENFIELD, N.Y.—A man wanted on warrants in Louisiana was arrested yesterday after police responded to the report of a domestic incident in Enfield around 9 a.m.

Police arrested Roy L. Searles, of Newfield, after an hours-long search since he had fled the scene of the domestic incident. New York State Police’s press release did not detail the domestic incident or whether Searles will face charges as a result of it.

While they were responding to the situation, police became aware that Searles was “wanted on active warrants from the State of Louisiana.” Searles’ warrants were not detailed by local police, though news articles from local Louisiana news organizations show a robbery incident from last year that match his name.

A K9 unit and drone were used to search the area, an investigation conducted by park police, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, and Tompkins and Schuyler County Sheriff’s Deputies. Searles was eventually discovered in a wooded area off Rumsey Hill Road and sent to Tompkins County Jail to await being transported to Louisiana.
