ITHACA, N.Y.—At approximately 9:57 a.m. Feb. 4, 2022, IPD officers responded to the Ithaca Arthaus apartment building, 130 Cherry Street, to a reported assault that had happened two hours prior. Officers on the scene learned that a male victim had been struck in the head with an unknown object by another male and that the victim’s wallet and phone had been taken. The suspect, described as a white male of thin build wearing a blue sweatshirt, fled the scene.

The victim sustained head injuries but refused medical attention. The victim and suspect know each other, and this doesn’t appear to be a random act of violence. Anyone with information about this incident should contact IPD’s police dispatch at (607)272-3245, police administration at (607)272-9973, or the police tip line at (607)330-0000 or www.cityofithaca.org/ipdtips.

Separately, IPD officers also responded for a welfare check on the night of Jan. 30 in the area of Cascadilla and Fulton Streets. A person was taken from the cold there and transported to a waiting patrol car, where they stayed until medical officials arrived to take them to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
