ITHACA, N.Y.—The City of Ithaca announced that a water main break on Williams Avenue will close part of Stewart Avenue for at least the rest of Tuesday and potentially Wednesday as well.

“Verizon has issued an emergency closure of Stewart Ave between Buffalo Street and Williams Street for today, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, possibly extending until tomorrow, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, due to a water main break on Williams Street,” stated the city’s announcement. “The road will be closed during working hours, open during the evening and overnight.”

Detours will be necessary. From the city:

  • From the north: East on Campus Rd, turn right on College Ave, turn right on Dryden Rd, left on Eddy, right on Buffalo to the end.
  • From the south: Up Buffalo St, left on Eddy, right on Dryden, left on College, left on Campus Rd to the end.
