ITHACA, N.Y.—Following the sharp uptick in COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant at the end of the fall semester, Ithaca College is requiring a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine for all active students enrolled in the Spring 2022 semester. The deadline is Feb. 15, 2022, or within 30 days of becoming eligible for a booster if that date falls after the initial deadline, according to an Intercom announcement released Dec. 22, 2021.
Proof of booster doses can be submitted through the college’s vaccine webpage and it is strongly encouraged that students complete their booster prior to returning to campus.
Students who have received a college-approved medical or religious exemption previously will continue to be exempt from this requirement but must continue abiding by the safety protocols currently in place, including face coverings and regular surveillance testing throughout the spring semester.
The spring semester opening protocols include a six-day move-in period from Jan. 18 through Jan. 23, and all off-campus students will be required to check in before classes start.
Students are required to receive a PCR test within 72 hours prior to their on-campus arrival and must show proof of a negative test to check in. The college strongly discourages outside visitors from entering campus unless they are dropping a student off or participating in a structured campus tour with the admission office.
