TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—New York State Senate candidate Leslie Danks Burke has picked up her first notable endorsement of the 2022 election cycle, as state comptroller Tom DiNapoli threw his support her way in the race against incumbent Republican Tom O’Mara.

Danks Burke declared her candidacy in October, and was followed in December by Binghamton’s Lea Webb. They will vie for the Democratic nomination to face O’Mara in November—though due to the ongoing redistricting process, it’s unclear exactly where that district will lie or what the electorate will look like.

“I am so honored to have Tom’s support, because he believes in the things I believe in, and fights for the things I fight for,” Danks Burke said in announcing the endorsement. “He’s a tireless crusader against Albany corruption, a leader in the fight for corporate accountability and transparency, a progressive who fights for middle-class taxpayers, and a strong union supporter who protects the pensions of countless working people.”

DiNapoli had previously endorsed Danks Burke in her last race against O’Mara.
