ITHACA, N.Y.—The Ithaca Police Department is investigating an assault that took place around Center Ithaca on the Commons around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, Nov. 14.

According to a police release, two men were walking on the Commons when they were approached by another group of about six men.

“The group of six male suspects reportedly, without provocation, punched and kicked the two male victims before fleeing from the area on foot,” police stated.

The two victims were not seriously injured, but were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained.

“The victims and suspects are not known to one another, and this appears to be a random act,” police said. Several surveillance cameras picked up footage of the group of alleged suspects walking on the Commons. One picture has been placed at the bottom of this article.

Police are asking any members of the public with information for help.
