Tompkins Connect is pleased to announce it will host its signature autumn event Ales for Tails, a fundraiser for the SPCA of Tompkins County to help local shelter animals, on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The annual dog and family-friendly fundraiser is a collaboration between Tompkins Connect, Ithaca Beer Co., and The Westy. The Westy will donate one dollar from every pint sold at the event to the SPCA. Ithaca Beer Co. will donate an entire keg with all proceeds from the keg benefiting the SPCA. There will also be an Ithaca
Beer raffle that will directly benefit the SPCA. From now until October 27, raffle tickets can be purchased at The Westy, with all proceeds directly benefiting the SPCA.
Katie Shaw, Tompkins Connect Planning Committee Chair shared, “We are thrilled to host this fundraiser for the SPCA and to give our local young professionals and their furry friends a fun and festive (in-person) networking opportunity.”
In addition to networking, the event will feature a pet costume contest, with two categories: “Best Pet Costume” and “Best Owner/Pet Costume Combo”, and pet-themed prizes for the winners. Registration for the contest starts at 5 p.m. and the winners will be announced between 6:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tompkins Connect
encourages pet owners to ensure their dogs are comfortable with costumes and large crowds before attending the event.
“We are so incredibly grateful to Tompkins Connect, Ithaca Beer, and the Westy for raising funds for the SPCA of Tompkins County,” shared Jim Bouderau, Executive Director of SPCA of Tompkins County. “Since 1902, the SPCA has relied on our local community to make our work possible. Fundraisers like these are essential in providing much needed supplies, food, and medical care for our animals.”
