ITHACA, N.Y.—The Ithaca Police Department is investigating a stabbing that took place on West State Street in Ithaca. Police cautioned that the incident does not appear to be random, and that they believe the victims and attackers knew each other.

The police’s narrative states that a stabbing was reported in the 300 block of West State Street around 9:50 p.m. on Thursday night. It’s the third night in a row that a violent incident has been reported in Ithaca, following shootings on two consecutive nights on Elm Street.

During Thursday’s incident, one male victim was found after being stabbed “multiple times in the upper body and leg.” Police said they then found a female victim who had “sustained a much less serious cut to the leg.”

Bang’s Ambulance and Ithaca Fire Department workers helped provide aid on-scene. The female victim was treated at a local hospital and apparently released, while the male victim is in stable condition as of last night and had been transported to a regional trauma center.
