ITHACA, N.Y.—One person was taken to an area hospital for treatment after being robbed in Ithaca on Friday night.

Ithaca police published a press release regarding the crime, which took place around 6:55 p.m. in the 700 block of West State Street.

Police stated in their narrative that the victim reported that prior to calling 911, he was “punched in the face by an unidentified suspect and robbed of his cellphone.”

There was no suspect description provided by the police. The victim, according to police, sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his face and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are encouraging any witnesses or those with information to contact the police.
