ITHACA, N.Y.—For a second consecutive night, police responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the area of Elm Street on Wednesday night. Unlike Tuesday night’s shooting, no injuries were reported in connection to the latest incident.

Around 10:24 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Elm Street at Chestnut Street. According to the police’s narrative, upon arrival officers “located evidence of a shooting, including numerous shell casings from a handgun.”

One area resident, according to the police’s statement, claimed that “several bullets had struck their home, one of which entered a bedroom.” The shooting apparently took place from a moving vehicle, as police said the following: “A vehicle was also later located that was found to have been shot several times as the driver passed through the area.”

The investigation is ongoing, and the Ithaca Police Department is asking that anyone who was in area during the incident or anyone who resides in the area that may have surveillance footage contact the Ithaca Police Investigative Division.

Any witnesses who have not already spoken with Police are asked to contact IPD by one of the following means: Police Dispatch: 607-272-3245
