TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home invasion and shooting in the Town of Lansing on Thursday night.

The Sheriff’s office reported that a man in his early 30s living at the Milton Meadows Apartments heard a knock on his door at about 11:10pm. Upon opening the door to his apartment, he was attacked by two people. The victim said that they demanded money from him, but then shot him in the foot and struck him over the head with a handgun before fleeing the scene.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the injured man. He was quickly transported to a regional trauma center for treatment. The victim has since been released from the trauma center. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Bangs Ambulance, the Lansing Fire Department, and the New York State Police.

The Sheriff’s Office has not made descriptions available of the two suspects. The investigation into this incident is ongoing and the Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone who may have knowledge of the incident or video footage from the area to reach out.
