ITHACA, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office published a press release earlier this week regarding a shooting that took place at the Overlook Apartments in the Town of Ithaca on Sunday, Sept. 19.

Police said one person, a 34-year-old man from Ithaca, who had suffered a gunshot wound was found upon police’s arrival after they responded to a call. He was transported by air to a regional trauma center and is in stable condition, according to Undersheriff Jennifer Olin.

While details of the shooting were virtually non-existent, at least from what the police released, they have said that there is a person of interest who is being investigated.

“The Sheriff’s Office is currently attempting to locate a person of interest, James Harrigan, a 32-year-old man from Ithaca, N.Y.,” said the press release. “The victim and suspect are reported to have known each other and [had] been involved in a verbal dispute prior to the shooting.”
