ITHACA, N.Y.—Ithaca Police have announced the arrests of four individuals in connection with two separate armed robberies over the last month.
First, in an incident that included a taxi being stolen at gunpoint and used to flee from the Speedway Gas Station in Ithaca before being abandoned in Schuyler County, Ronald Snyder, 41, and Joseph Esposito, 35, were both arrested. Esposito was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon while Snyder was charged with first-degree robbery.
Police are considering additional charges. Both men were already in custody on unrelated charges and remain incarcerated.
Otherwise, in an armed robbery on South Plain Street that left one man injured, two teenagers have been arrested and charged. On Sept. 11, 2021, police stated that a victim alleged he was robbed of money and struck multiple times with a handgun during the incident at a playground on South Plain Street. He was taken to a regional trauma center and treated.
Jai Jones, 18, of Ithaca and a juvenile accomplice were both arrested in connection to the crime. Both were charged with first degree robery. Jones was remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $5,000 bail, while the juvenile was arraigned and released to a parent.
