ULYSSES, N.Y. –– An 86-year-old woman and her dog are dead after a fatal two-car collision on Monday evening.

According to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, the responding agency, on July 5 at the intersection of Jacksonville Road and Agard Road in the Town of Ulysses a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was “traveling north on Jacksonville Road when a 2004 Volkswagen, traveling west on Agard Road, failed to stop at the stop sign, colliding into the Chevrolet Silverado.”

Sheriffs Deputies are said to have arrived on scene shortly after 6 p.m.

In a press release Sheriff Derek Osbourne says the operator of the Volkswagen, 86-year-old Joyce H. Oltz of Trumansburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. He goes on to say that Oltz was accompanied by her dog, who was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement reports that minor injuries were sustained to the occupants of the Chevrolet Silverado. 

The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and Trumansburg Fire and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
