ITHACA, N.Y.—The City of Ithaca announced today that the South Cayuga Street Bridge will be closed for the rest of 2021. The bridge will be fully closed during the construction.

According to the city, all traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, will be detoured around the site. The project starts on July 26 and is scheduled to end on December 31, 2021.

The city calls the project a “full superstructure replacement” project, which will include the removal and replacement with “multi-girder bridge with concrete deck” and “removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete on the abutments.”

While an exact location isn’t mentioned in the announcement regarding where specifically the closures would be in effect, here is the general area of the bridge.
