NEWFIELD, N.Y. –– A Newfield man has been charged with Criminal Contempt after violating a protection order earlier this month.

On July 16, New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Joseph A. Tratt Jr., age 29 of Newfield, NY for the felony of Criminal Contempt in the first degree.  

According to law enforcement, on July 7, troopers were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on Van Buskirk Gulf Road in the town of Newfield.  Upon arrival, state police say they found that Tratt had fled the area and that he had violated an order of protection. 

State police go on to state in a press release that Tratt appeared at the Ithaca barracks a week later where he was arrested.  He was processed and released on an appearance ticket to the Newfield Town Court on July 21, 2021
