The Ithaca Police Department identified the victim of the Tuesday morning fatal shooting — writing in a Wednesday afternoon press release that the department believes the victim was specifically targeted. 

Police identified the victim as Alan M. Godfrey, 32, who was from the Ithaca area. 

The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Taughannock Boulevard at approximately 12:43 a.m., according to the release. IPD is working with the FBI, the New York State Police and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the homicide.
