Correction: An error in the City of Ithaca’s announcement meant this story initially said construction would continue until 2022. In reality, it is scheduled to end in July 2021, and the story has been updated.

ITHACA, N.Y.—Construction to install a gas main and services line will close a part of Hyers Street and the 500 block of South Albany Street until later this summer, the city announced.

The work has begun, and will continue until late July 2021. Hyers Street and the 500 block of S. Albany Street between S. Titus Avenue and Wood Street are closed to through traffic.

“When necessary, emergency services and residents of those blocks can enter, but may experience delays,” the city said. “Parking impacts will be adjusted with the work progression and residents are asked to park in driveways or on other streets when possible. Pedestrians and bicyclists may experience delays or detours.”

There will be detours established for northbound traffic for S. Albany Street to Wood Street to South Plain Street to South Titus Avenue. Southbound traffic for S. Albany Street will be directed to S. Titus Avenue to S. Plain Street to Wood Street.
