ITHACA, N.Y. –– Law enforcement is searching for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man in the lobby of the Ithaca Courtyard by Marriott.

Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident at 29 Thornwood Drive just after 9 p.m. on Thursday where they located a male victim in the hotel lobby with a stab wound to his arm.  Deputies applied a tourniquet to the victim to help stop bleeding until Emergency Medical Services arrived. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

As a note, neither the victim nor the suspect are hotel employees.

Deputies say that the male victim had an altercation with Sheryl K. Leckey, age 31 of Ithaca, in the lobby of the hotel.  During the altercation, Leckey pulled a knife on the male and stabbed him, after which he was able to get away by locking himself in an office near the front lobby of the hotel.  Leckey fled the scene in a black 2011 Nissan Juke with a NY license plate.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office has an Active Arrest Warrant for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Assault in the Second Degree and Menacing in the Second Degree for Leckey.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Leckey, you are asked to contact the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office at 607-273-8000 or the tip line at 607-266-5420. Police say they do not have a photo of Leckey to distribute to the public.
