TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—The vacant seat on the Tompkins County Legislature should be filled by the end of Tuesday after a special election to determine who will be the next representative of District 2.

Who are the candidates: Veronica Pillar, local teacher and organizer, and Leslie Schill, Director of Campus Planning at Cornell University. They are running to replace Anna Kelles, the former county legislator from Ithaca who now serves in the New York State Assembly. The candidates held one debate, covered here.

What District: Tompkins County Legislature District 2, which encompasses District 1 of the City of Ithaca’s Third Ward and Districts 1-3 of the City of Ithaca’s Fifth Ward. This map of legislature districts is more helpful.

When: Voting is held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on March 23.

Where: Voters in District 2 can vote at the Tabernacle Baptist Church at 1019 North Cayuga Street. The Board of Elections says to use the Utica Street entrance.
