ITHACA, N.Y.—The Ithaca Police have published a follow-up to their announcement on Friday of the discovery of a dead body in a hotel in downtown Ithaca.

“At this time, an intense investigation has not yielded any evidence to suggest that foul play or criminality were involved with the death,” said the release. “The deceased’s family has been notified, however their name is not being released.”

At the time of the initial announcement, details were scant, and despite the update they still are. Police did not announce a cause of death and did not confirm a location where the body was found, though that has been reported to be the Canopy by Hilton hotel in downtown Ithaca.

Oddly, in its list of agencies to thank for their work on the investigation, police included the Austin, Texas Police Department and the United States Military for “their assistance in this investigation.”
