TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Health Department has announced an additional death of a Tompkins County resident from COVID-19, raising the death toll in the county to 28 since the start of the pandemic.
It does not appear as if the death occurred in a nursing home or was a nursing home resident, as the health department has traditionally clarified when a COVID-19 death stemmed from a nursing home. It’s the first death reported by the health department since Feb. 10, meaning it’s been nearly a month since the last reported COVID-19 fatality locally.
In more positive news, there are 0 current COVID-19 hospitalizations, the first time that hospitals locally have been clear of COVID-19 cases since Oct. 5.
Updated Table: 10 new positive cases, 9 released, 93 active cases. One death reported.
