ITHACA, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Health Department is seeking a dog that bit someone in front of Pizza Aroma and Ithaca Mini Mart on South Cayuga Street. The incident took place on Jan. 26 around 2:10 p.m.

The department needs to verify the dog’s vaccination status and health over a 10 day period. If the dog can be located and observed, rabies can either be confirmed or ruled out and treatment for the person who was bitten will not be necessary.

The dog is described as: medium sized, short haired, white dog with brown freckling around the face and back and shorter ears that folded over. Further, the dog was with a white man, 5’6″-5’8″ with a light build and an “oversized, dark colored winter coat/ski jacket with a hood over his head.”

Those with information on the dog should call the Tompkins County Environmental Health Division at (607) 274-6688.
