ITHACA, N.Y.—Three people have been hospitalized after an interrupted home invasion in the 800 block of North Cayuga Street, Ithaca police announced Friday night.

Police responded to a report of a physical dispute at the location, when it was told to police that multiple people were hitting someone who was on the ground—one of them armed with a baseball bat. When police arrived on the scene, they found three people injured from the melee, all of whom had sustained stab wounds.

The three were injured at “various levels,” police said. Initial investigation showed that one of the men involved had forced his way into the building on North Cayuga Street, after which he was confronted by occupants of the building and a fight followed. The investigation is ongoing.

All three men were taken to a regional trauma centers for medical treatment, though police noted that none of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.

Police were assisted by the Ithaca Fire Department, Bangs Ambulance and the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit.
