ITHACA, N.Y. –– Cayuga Health System is now making it easier for the public to view local coronavirus data through their online Coronavirus Tracking Tool.

The new tool draws data daily from the regional COVID-19 Sampling Center including cases, hospitalizations, deaths, age and gender, and turns it into charts and graphs.

“We are very pleased to be able to present this useful data to our local communities in order for our entire community to be able to monitor the ongoing evolution of this pandemic,” said Dr. Martin Stallone, President & CEO of Cayuga Health.

Additionally the new tool tracks Cayuga Health hospital capacity and supplies, monitoring preparedness for potential covid spikes.

The new tracking tool comes as Cayuga Health continues to conduct coronavirus testing at high volumes –– conducting over 65,000 tests to-date. And with students from Cornell University, Ithaca College and other schools in the region returning for in-person fall semesters, testing rates continue to climb –– recently, the Sampling Center performed 1,625 tests in a single day.

Dr. Stallone from CHS gave his perspective on the success of the regional testing available in Ithaca in a press release Monday.

“Our state-of-the-art laboratory at Cayuga Medical Center and our experienced laboratory professionals and board-certified pathologists offer a level of service comparable to much larger facilities,” Dr. Stallone said. “In addition, our partnership with Rheonix, Inc. has given us the ability to perform rapid testing at our Mass Sampling Center and our Mobile Testing Unit with quick results from our lab.”

To view the Cayuga Health Coronavirus Tracking Tool go online to CHS’s website here. Data is updated every day.

For those in need of coronavirus testing, the Sampling Center at The Shops at Ithaca Mall parking lot, 40 Catherwood Road, is available for pre-scheduled drive through testing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
