ULYSSES, N.Y. –– A woman was arrested last month for grand larceny and forgery after stealing over $12,000 from a Tompkins business.

According to a press release from state law enforcement sent out Thursday, on July 2 at approximately 10:00 a.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Lorraine A. Evans, age 53 of Alpine, NY on two felony accounts of forgery in the second degree and grand larceny in the fourth degree.

Evans was found to have stolen money and written checks on behalf of a Ulysses business without the owner’s consent.  An investigation by NYS police revealed that over $12,000 was taken over a period of several months while Evans was working as a bookkeeper for the business.

Evans was arraigned virtually and scheduled to appear in the town of Ulysses court in August.
