ITHACA, N.Y. — The City of Ithaca announced on Monday that they would be extending the two-week closure of Sunrise Road to a two-month closure in order to facilitate the installation of new water mains and piping — in addition to the stormwater infrastructure work that was set to begin on Tuesday.

The road was slated to be closed for two weeks, beginning Tuesday morning, until the project is complete. That was initially slated to be Sept. 15. but will now run through the end of October.

The installation of new water mains is the reason for the extension, according to the city. Originally that project was seeking to repair stormwater fixtures and pave the stretch.
