ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca Police responded to multiple incidents over the weekend, including a burglary, forcible touching, a robbery, shots fired and criminal mischief.

On Friday, July 10, the Ithaca Police Department received numerous reports throughout the night of a man, later identified as Will Rogers Howell Jr., harassing female individuals in the south end of the city. Reports alleged that Howell Jr. was following women around stores, exposing himself and entering a women’s bathroom and grabbing a female occupant. He then broke into a home, forcibly touched the resident and took property and cash. Howell Jr. broke into another home afterward, and left without further incident.

Howell Jr. was located near the last residence, taken into custody and arraigned at Ithaca City Court. He is in Tompkins County Jail and is awaiting his next court appearance.

Ithaca Police responded to a robbery at Byrne Dairy on North Meadow Street at around 11:30 p.m. on July 11. A suspect entered the store, pointed what appeared to be a dark-colored semi-automatic pistol at the cashier and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect fled the scene northbound on Meadow Street with an undisclosed amount of cash prior to police arrival.

The suspect was described as being a black male, around 5’7″, with an average build. He was wearing a ski mask, clear gloves, a grey or black down puffy jacket, black pants with a white stripe down the side and white sneakers.

At 2:49 a.m. on July 12, Ithaca Police responded to reports of suspicious activity on the 200 block of West Spencer Street. Officers located numerous vehicles parked along the street with smashed passenger side windows. Officers attempted to notify the owners of the vehicles.

Also on Sunday, 10:18 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired around the 600 block of West State Street. There were no injuries, but a vehicle was damaged in the shooting.
