ITHACA, N.Y. — A man is in critical condition after being pulled from the water of Cayuga Inlet in the early hours of Thursday morning.

At approximately 4:50 a.m. Thursday morning, the Ithaca Police Department responded to a report of a possible drowning at Steamboat Landing on Third Street in the City of Ithaca.

Officers found a 58-year-old male being held onto by two bystanders in the water off the edge of the dock. An officer jumped into the water to assist the unconscious man while the bystanders, two officers and Bangs Ambulance personnel lifted the man out of the water.

The man was transported to the hospital and at the time of this release is in critical condition, according to IPD.
