ITHACA, N.Y. — As we all work to adjust to the upending of our daily lives due to the coronavirus, the halls of power are no different, with city officials working to make sure that the city’s business continues to be done, even as buildings are closed to the public and employees — including the City of Ithaca Common Council — work remotely.

To that end, April’s Common Council meeting, scheduled for Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. will still be going on as scheduled. And the public is as welcome as ever to lend their comments.

The meeting will be conducted via Zoom — a digital meeting platform that become almost ubiquitous during this time of social distancing, will be live-streamed via the city’s YouTube channel. Those wishing to “attend” may do so here. The agenda also contains the necessary links to get to the meeting and can also be found here.

Those wishing to submit a comment to the council can still do so by way of a form set up on the city website here. You won’t get the same three-minutes before the cameras that is customary at a Common Council meeting, but it will still get your comments before your local representatives.

Those unable to watch tonight at 6 p.m. will be able to watch the video on YouTube at their convenience. The Voice will also publish our normal meeting recap Thursday.
