ITHACA, N.Y. — Sweep Streets Entertainment presents an evening with Mike Yung, Saturday, March 7, at 8 p.m. at Forest City Lodge, 536 West Green Street.

Everybody calls him The Subway Singer. His passion for music is unsurpassed. For 37 years he graced the New York City Subways and its commuters with his magnificent golden voice.

His musical career started in his aunt’s church when he was growing up. In spite of broken dreams and record deals that fell through, because the record label that signed him went bankrupt, he did not believe in giving up. He kept on pushing his music with a passion.
Later in life, he got a job working for the Parks Department cleaning the beach on Coney Island. It was then that he was recruited by a friend to sing on the subway. On Mondays and Tuesdays, he mostly got paid by being given hugs. But Thursdays and Fridays made up for it because people got paid and could give him real cash.
He was one of the few people to get a standing ovation and two thumbs up from Simon Cowell in America’s Got Talent.
“…What you have, you can’t fake it, Mike…”
“…This is the real deal…”
 — Simon Cowell
Mike Yung pours his heart and soul into his music. We are blessed to have talent of this magnitude coming to our town to grace our monthly oxtail cook-off and comedy jam. Those who haven’t heard his voice, search for him on YouTube.
