ITHACA, N.Y. — The Tompkins County Health Department has issued updated numbers showing that positive tests have doubled since yesterday — up to six total cases.

TCHD offered no additional information with the updated statistics. County officials stated at Tuesday night’s meeting of the county legislature that, as testing capability increases, the numbers will also increase.

“We want to reinforce the importance of social distancing, stay home or at least 6 feet away from others. We need everyone’s help to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” states Public Health Director, Frank Kruppa.

TCHD public health nurses are conducting contact investigations to determine if there were any additional exposures. Anyone who is identified as a close contact will be contacted and directed to self-quarantine, said TCHD in a press release.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
