UPDATE 3:26 P.M. –– The major accidents that blocked traffic for most of the morning on Route 79, Route 13 and W. Danby Road have all been cleared up and travel has resumed.

However, power lines down in Dryden are preventing travel through the village. Traffic is stopped at Route 13 and Route 38.

According to Tompkins County Dispatch, traffic is being rerouted and detours are set up at both Lewis Street and Enterprise Drive.

Travelers are advised to seek alternative routes.

UPDATE 1:44 P.M. –– Route 79 by Hector Street and Warren Place is now reopened.

UPDATE 1:03 P.M. –– Several accidents are blocking traffic throughout Tompkins County as snow continues to accumulate steadily. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warning to drivers to stay off the roads, urging ‘no unnecessary travel.’

A tractor trailer on Route 13 by the Cayuga Heights exit is sideways blocking three lanes of northbound traffic. Drivers have been at a standstill for over four hours, as crews work to move the vehicle. Tompkins County Dispatch is unsure when the trailer will be moved, but by earlier estimates it could be at least another hour. The Ithaca Police Department, Cayuga Heights Police and the Tompkins County Sheriff have all responded to the scene.

Another tractor trailer, stuck in the snow on Route 79 by Hector Street and Warren Place is blocking traffic, and TC Dispatch reports that truck will be stuck for at least another hour as well.

On W. Danby Road at the intersection of Route 34 and Route 96 a box truck and tractor trailer collided blocking one lane of traffic. It is unclear whether that road has been cleared.

Citing deteriorating road conditions and crews clearing snow and accidents, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department has issued a travel advisory, asking residents to “stay at home or at work where it is safe until the storm passes.”

Earlier ––

ITHACA, N.Y. –– Tompkins County Dispatch has confirmed an overturned tractor trailer on State Route 13 between Route 34 and Triphammer Road, causing major delays and standstill traffic.

Following significant traffic delays on Friday morning, it appears that it will be several more hours until an overturned tractor trailer on Route 13 can be moved to allow vehicles to pass.

According to dispatch, a tractor trailer by the Cayuga Heights exit on Route 13 lost control and tipped over, blocking the roadway.

There are no injuries being reporting and crews are on the scene with a heavy-duty wrecking tow truck attempting to right the vehicle and move traffic.

As of 10:30 a.m., TC Dispatch estimated it will be another 3 hours until the roadway is clear.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said the tractor trailer on Route 13 was overturned. It is clear now the trailer is sideways blocking traffic.

Correction: An earlier version of this story mentioned Warren Road instead of Warren Place.
