Update (3:43 p.m) –– Law enforcement has reported that a possible suspect has been identified after there were reports of shots fired on Abbott Lane earlier Friday.

The suspect was seen fleeing the West Village Apartments in Ithaca in the direction of Floral Ave.

The original call reported a possible victim, but when law enforcement reached the scene, they confirmed that no one was hurt.

The identity of the suspect is being withheld at this time by police, pending further investigation. IPD Deputy Chief John Joly confirmed that they believe the incident is related to previous reports of shots fired on Spencer Street.

ITHACA, N.Y. ––Ithaca Police are searching the area of West Village Apartments and Floral Ave after reports of shots fired Friday afternoon.

Authorities say that no one was struck by any of the shots and that the suspect is a black male wearing a puffy jacket who took off on foot towards Floral Avenue.

Police have been searching West Hill with the assistance of a K-9 unit for the suspect but have not yet been able to apprehend them.
