The City’s allegations against IPD’s Investigative Division are deeply disturbing on so many levels.

If true, it represents a failure of service to our community and a population who have already been subject to terrible experiences.

A thorough and unbiased investigation into the allegations is necessary to determine the truth and validity of these claims. I have the utmost respect for the professionalism, thoroughness and expertise of our police department in general and Investigator Barksdale specifically.

Christine has been a tireless advocate for our community and for survivors of sexual abuse. The inconsistencies in the reporting to Common Council and the review and disciplinary process within the department, is such that I am deeply unsatisfied with the investigation and actions that the City has undertaken. As such, I ask the community to pause before passing judgment on what is going on.

Investigator Barksdale has a right to due process. As the investigations proceed, I am hoping to see a fair, transparent process.

I have full confidence that these allegations will be shown to be false.
