No curbside recycling or trash pickup on Thanksgiving

On Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, the Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management will be closed for the holiday. The office will re-open on Monday, Dec. 2.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 for Thanksgiving but will be open its regular hours, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 30.

There will be no curbside recycling pick-up on Thursday, Nov. 28. Collection will be a day late for the remainder of the holiday week. That means if your scheduled pick-up day is Thursday, recycling will be picked up on Friday. If your pick-up day is normally Friday, collection will take place on Saturday.

In the City of Ithaca, there will also be no trash pickup on Thanksgiving. Like recycling, trash pickup will be delayed a day due to the holiday.

Also, the city is reminding residents that this is the final week for curbside yard waste collection. Yard waste pick-up occurs on the same day as trash collection, on the weeks opposite of recycling pick-up, and runs from April 1 to  Nov. 30 every year.

Not sure what day trash collection falls on? Use the Resident Services Search Tool.
