ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca Police were called to the West Village apartments Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. After the man barricaded himself inside without communication for several minutes, police said, the SWAT team and crisis negotiating team were called in.
The man, 46-year-old Michael Sweet, of Ithaca, surrendered and was taken into custody without incident, police said in a news release.
Police were initially called at 9:42 p.m. Saturday for a reported physical fight possibly involving a knife.
Sweet was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, two counts of third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
