Regarding the reported statements of some county legislators that they voted against the resolution approving the hunting of deer with rifles out of concern about gun violence, I would like to offer some practical political advice. Please do not conflate hunting with our current epidemic of gun violence.

There are many hunters that share your concern about the proliferation of firearms that are meant to kill people. Do not do the work of the NRA by suggesting that hunters or all gun owners are part of the problem. We need all the help we can get to combat gun violence.
