(Update 2 p.m. Friday) — Updated with additional information from Sheriff Derek Osborne.

GROTON, N.Y. — Police, firefighters and EMS responded to a three-car crash Friday at the intersection of Peruville Road/Route 34B and Route 38 in Groton.

The crash was reported at about 11:30 a.m. and by about 1:15 p.m., the road had reopened. Sheriff Derek Osborne said in an update Friday that a Dodge flatbed truck was headed west on Peruville Road/34B when it ran a flashing red light and struck a Jeep, which rolled over, caught fire and struck a Hyundai sedan that was stopped.

Osborne said there were only minor injuries from the crash.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash and said charges are pending.

In addition to the sheriff’s office, New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Groton Police, Groton Fire, Dryden Fire and Freeville Fire responded.
