Brighten your day at the Ithaca Fire Department’s 26th annual Kids Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 17 at Stewart Park.

Children will have the chance to ride on firetrucks, as well as watch fire extinguisher demonstrations and see water sprayed from a fire hose. Firefighters will demonstrate how they use tools such as the Jaws of Life, rope rescue equipment and thermal cameras.

The event is a way for children to learn about fire safety and meet the people who protect them. There will be a fire safety obstacle course, and firefighters will be present to talk about fire safety within homes as well.

There will also be balloons, school supplies and fire helmets for children. The event is free to the public. In case of rain, the event will be moved to Sunday, Aug. 18.
